D.Duarte I Valença was born in Almouraz the Capital of the kingdom of Lusária in the year 25 of Era Vetus, only son to the King D.Afonso II, in his early teenage years he showed a great aptitue for warfare and the study of history and philosophy, though at the same time a rowdy temperement that lead him to constant fights with the other kids of the court, it was during this time that he befrieded Alexandre Vasconcelos a boy 2 years older than him and heir to the County of Alvira.

Early life

In his early 20s D.Duarte was charged by his father with ever more important roles in the military and admnistration of the Kingdom in preparation for him to take the throne, it was during this time in which he was resposible for assembly a small conscript army to crush a peasent rebellion at the island of São Pedro where he thereafter oversaw the construction of a small castle to estabelish better control and order over that region of the realm, during this period he spent large extents of time in the city of Alvira with his friend Alexandre, fullfiling his admnistrative capabilities from there as the friendship between them grew into a bond that could hold the kingdom together.

Life in Aquila

In the year 0 of Era Nova at the age of 25 D.Duarte I took the throne of the Kingdom after the death of his father, appointing Alexandre as his main advisor, the early reign of D.Duarte I was focused on the expansion of the economy, end of diplomatic isolation and the investment into the realms navy and maritime capabilities.
