Ilivnolu is the Matron of the Great House Zareerae, and Matron Mother of [[Araxnae]]. She is the head priestess of the faith, Yssae, and uses her positions as both hammer and anvil as she brings Araxnae into the global stage for the first time. Her rigid views and break from the previous Matron Mothers' stance of isolationism have put a great deal of strain on her leadership, and many of the Great and Lesser Houses have began scheming their ascension - at her direct misfortune. As such, a great deal of her own house's resources have gone into an intricate secret police and internal intelligence network, allowing her to stay just ahead of assassins and politicians alike. Many of the lowest of castes within Araxnae, however, are firmly behind her, as her new policies haven given them chances to ascend that they could never have imagined in the old systems. Time will tell if these popular policies will herald a new golden age, or serve as a preamble to her funerary.

== Biography & History ==

=== Early Life ===
Ilivnolu was born as the 13th daughter of Lloraaru Zareerae, the previous Matron of House Zareerae. Her youth was filled with harsh lessons and fierce competition with her siblings. Deep Elven culture is brutal for all, but especially those little girls born into power and prestige. By 12, she was only one of 4 daughters remaining to Lloraaru - her other sisters proving ... inadequate ... to claim their mother's position. By 17, she had but a single remaining sister, the 17th daughter - Sylvae.

=== Pre-Eminence ===
At 19, Ilivnolu made her move. In Araxnae, political ascension is brokered with power and bought with blood. The most important ritual for young women is to demonstrate superiority in this regard over not just her siblings, but her own mother. In order for Ilivnolu to ascend, not only did she have to dispose of Sylvae, to prevent a political rival, but she also had to overcome her own mother Lloraaru. It is customary for the sisters to be dealt with first, as a way of honing their skills before attempting to supplant the mother with far more practical experience in subterfuge and assassination. Ilivnolu used this to her advantage. She had let her sisters kill each other off, appearing weak and ineffectual. Sylvie, by contrast, had been quite prolific in sororicide, having killed 7 of the total 23 sisters. It was expected that she would be the one to ascend, and Ilivnolu wielded that expectation as a knife. As the mother and her two remaining daughters offered their prayers to Laelanis, Ilivnolu stepped back through the doorway to the altar, slamming the door closed behind her mother and sister, and barring the door to prevent their escape. Within the altar chamber, she had lured in a swarm of cavern spiders, who devoured Lloraaru and Sylvie both. Lloraaru had almost survived, slaying all but three of the spiders before finally succumbing to the poison and her wounds. On that day, Ilivnolu became the Matron of House Zareerae, and the next phase of her scheme began.

== Personality & Appearance ==

=== Personality ===
Ilivnolu is practical at the expense of empathy. Cold and calculated, she makes decisions based solely on how they will impact her future plans, and never on what it will cost others.

Ilivnolu is ambitious beyond reckoning, constantly craving more power, more recognition, more wealth, and more control.

In keeping with Deep Elven culture, she views failure and complacency as weakness, and weakness as intolerable. While most Deep Elves see Matron Mother as the pinnacle of ambition, she sees it as yet another stepping stone. While she guards this information closely, she has never once questioned her next step: Killing her goddess, Laelanis, and taking her throne among the cosmos. After all, ritual matricide defines the Deep Elves, and who is Laelanis if not the mother of all Deep Elves?

=== Appearance ===
Ilivnolu is a young Deep Elven lady, with deep purple skin, like a nightshade flower blended with charcoal. Her hair is tied in a waist long braid, and as pale as milk glistening in the moonlight. Obsidian baubles set with emeralds, rubies, and amethysts form a chain of ties along the braids, matching the regal jewelry adorning her wrists, neck, waist, and ears. Bright, piercing red eyes seem to stare ever through her surroundings, as if contemplating not what is, but what could be. Her attire is formal and elegant, the finest silk woven from the threads spun by the most expertly bred cave spiders in all of Araxnae.
