New page

Alvira is a city in the Kingdom of Lusária.

Due to its southernmost location, Alvira has an extensive coastline and arable land, with its main economic activities being agriculture, fishing, and trade.

Alvira was also the site of some industrial innovations by Alexandre Vasconcelos, particularly in agriculture, which helped save the Kingdom of Lusária from a famine that lasted for decades.

Its architecture is characterized by typical coastal houses, with white walls and colorful stripes in the corners, a clever way to keep the interior of the houses cooler, as Alvira is a rather hot area.

The city's market, located next to the port, is one of the most beautiful spots in Alvira. The city never sleeps there! New ships dock at the port every day, boosting much of the market's trade.

Alvira also has a beautiful seaside promenade that, in addition to serving as a starting point for fishermen, offers beautiful views of the sea horizon.

History
Alvira's origins date back to the early days of the Kingdom of Lusária, beginning as a small fishing village. Over the years, due to its strategic location and fertile soil, Alvira grew in population, boosting its development and attracting merchants to the region, becoming one of the kingdom's main commercial cities.

In more recent years, the Counts of Alvira became one of the most powerful nobles in the kingdom, notably Alexandre Vasconcelos.

Culture
Gastronomically, traditional dishes are closely linked to fish consumption. The famous beetroot soups and pumpkin pies are two unparalleled delicacies in the Kingdom.

Alvira is the setting for many traditional regional festivals, called "Arraiais," linked to a strong fishing culture and coastal life. During these festivities, conviviality, the sharing of experiences, stories, tales, adventures, myths, etc., take over the city streets, as well as music and the smell of grilled fish and bread (as well as the smell of urine left by the drunks relieving themselves in the city's alleys).
