Just as I began to wonder if land truly lay beyond the horizon, a coastline finally appeared. &#039;&#039;&#039;&#039;&#039;De zee houdt altijd geheimen.&#039;&#039;&#039;&#039;&#039; <br /> <br /> <br /> After coming ashore, I soon encountered the first people I have ever met beyond our continent. <br /> <br /> <br /> Our first meeting was... difficult. Neither &#039;&#039;&#039;Kopersch&#039;&#039;&#039;, &#039;&#039;&#039;Westmark&#039;&#039;&#039;, nor the &#039;&#039;&#039;Common Tongue&#039;&#039;&#039; meant anything to them, and their language was equally unfamiliar to me. After several awkward attempts at communication, I resorted to simple gestures, pointing to my ship and mimicking sleep. Their craftsmanship was equally remarkable, particularly their &#039;&#039;&#039;copper work&#039;&#039;&#039; and finely made pottery. <br /> <br /> <br /> Unlike what I first expected, this settlement appeared to be &#039;&#039;&#039;permanent&#039;&#039;&#039;. The surrounding land was surprisingly fertile, supporting both farming and livestock, leading me to believe this may serve as one of their principal settlements, perhaps even their capital. <br /> <br /> <br /> Interestingly, I never met the individual they regarded as their leader, who seemed to be away during my visit. <br /> <br /> <br /> Though our words could not yet reach one another, I have recorded all I could observe.
