In the months following Risa's death, I had spiraled. The tower felt empty. The entire desert did as well, desolate and alien as if it were another planet. I had never actually ventured into it, when Risa was here I just stayed inside with her. The farthest I had gone was the front porch. That changed today. I took a few steps outside, immediately getting blinded by the harsh sunlight. When my eyes adjusted, I saw an oasis in front of me. Risa had pointed to it through the windows before, but I had never actually seen it so close. I stuck my fingertips into the water, and noticed that it was surprisingly cold for such a warm climate.
"Watch out, It is full of pufferfish."
I nearly jumped out of my skin, spinning around to face the voice. Her stare pierced through me, like if in the second it took for her to observe me properly, she already knew all there was to know. She unnerved me, but not because of that. I stared at her for a moment, wondering what about her seemed so strange. Her eyes were fully orange.
"Do you know where Risa is? I wanted to pay her a visit."

"She had an accident involving fire a few months ago, she,-"
I kept speaking, but my words began to fade into the background. I saw something watching me from behind ruins, it's pale white face staring at me with thousands of grey lines etched into it's surface. The owl that Risa saw, staring at me. It didn't look real, a phantom apparition that looked fake, as if it was just an illusion. I stopped talking and the woman in front of me faded to the background.
"Are you alright?"
The woman brought me back to reality. I looked at her, and then back towards the owl, but it had vanished with a loud flutter of feathers. I asked her if she heard the sound, and she shook her head. She stared at me with worry in her eyes and continued to talk softly.
"I understand that the loss of a loved one is hard, especially for an Icari. When I had last visited, it was just her. I am guessing that it is just you now?"
I shook my head slowly, trying to focus on what she was saying.
"My name is Queen Semet of Kheta-Kedet. What is your name?"

"I'm Seras."

"Well, Seras, you are welcome in Kheta-Kedet when ever you so please, as Icari are made by the six."
As suddenly as she appeared, she left. Maybe I was just crazy, I thought, but something about the ruins unnerved me. The ruined village sat to the side of Risa's tower, seemingly empty. Despite my skepticism, I started to walk over, to see if what I saw was real.
