			A majority of the basin is mountainous, as that is a near-requirement to sustain life for Beetles. However the areas surrounding and in-between the mountains are largely plains or oak forests, as well as towards the West, there are also taiga forests. There are multiple rivers inside the valley, carrying water towards the North-East but pooling inside, forming multiple lakes in the region.

	Although technically united as a single hive, there are multiple smaller hives around the Syvänne region. 	Before the official formation of Syvänne, there existed multiple smaller tribes/species of Beetle, existing in relative harmony. Many of the tribes lived underground and relied on underground water systems to survive, though there were few, which relied purely on the surface. After a severe drought, estimated to have happened around Year ~~200~~ EV, many of the surface-beetles were wiped out.		Before the official formation of Syvänne, there existed multiple smaller tribes/species of Beetle, existing in relative harmony. Many of the tribes lived underground and relied on underground water systems to survive, though there were few, which relied purely on the surface. After a severe drought, estimated to have happened around Year 300 EV, many of the surface-beetles were wiped out. A majority of underground tribes survived, due to their access to [[wikipedia:Groundwater\|Groundwater]] underneath the basin. Due to this, many tribes were scared of leaving too far away from their nests, and the Beetle Homini turned largely subterranean.

	~~TBW~~		During the year of 165 EV, a time in which only a few larger tribes of Beetles existed, the mountainous tribe under the (now) central mountain started a campaign to unite all Beetles under a single banner. The campaign consisted of both diplomatic and economic measures, as well as direct violence. Two smaller hives (North- and East of the now central mountain), joined under an economic union. The Western hives however, refused to participate, as their larger access to minerals and metals made them much more prosperous than their Eastern counterparts. This eventually led to the Beetlic Wars of Unification.

			After peace was finally found, around 155 EV, the king of the central mountain declared the Beetles united around the Basin. The newfound nation, The Beetlic Empire, did not last long however, largely due to the severe mistreatment of the Western Hives. There was an assassination attempt against the then-emperor, who was harmed, though not killed, during the event. This made the emperor stand down, and instead brought a council in their place. After only some years however, it was decided that a stronger centralization of power was required, and it was voted that a monarch shall be elected. From all the hives, it was chosen that Bekin Vaurent would be the best candidate. The Vaurent lineage is still the de-facto ruler of Syvänne to this day.
