"It's unprecedented, but necessary," [[Demeralia|Demeralia Mayor Galloway]] stated, "We're all suffering right now, if the Governor can figure something out, then we'll make it."

After the start of the Great Drought, with the vast majority of crops failing, things seemed like they couldn't get much worse, and yet they did. The "Deadly Winter", as many Coronadans call it, resulted in a drastic drop in temperatures. [[Union of Coronado|The Union]], already suffering, has almost been put on the edge.

In the proclamation, Governor [[Stella Heartwood]] not only invited the three towns to discussions, but [[Calvera]], the northern territory, as well. It's unknown what the purpose of the convention is, but Coronadans meet it with cautious optimism.

Lee Fig, 57, a hunter in [[Demeralia]], reflected this feeling. "Ask me last year, I'd give the governor a stink eye. Now? I'm willing to follow whatever gets us out of this mess." The sentiment was also shared by fellow Demeralian Troy Johnston, 39, who works in the town market. "I trust the Governor", Johnston said.
