''“This was it,”'' he thought. ''“The beginning of a new history, changing the kingdom for a new future.”''

The thought did not bring much joy to him, as he struggled to get on terms with his actions, and even now he wondered if he had picked the right choice. Generations have lived in peace and being content with their modest surroundings, lived with what the land could provide them and their faith in the godking as their lone companion. Was it arrogance from his side to want something more? to make the kingdom be truly worthy, when the Godking return to the mortal realm ?

Sitting upon the shore in the bay, the sun slowly went its way beneath the horizon, its failing light shimmering across the calm water like countless pearls.

A sharp and cold sea breeze embraced Valdemar like a cold blanket, as the tide rolled in and out with no care for the struggles of Man.

However, the shore, the bay itself would be changed forever.

“This was it,” he thought. “The beginning of a new history, changing the kingdom for a new future.”

The thought did not bring much joy to him, as he struggled to come to terms with his actions, and even now he wondered if he had picked the right choice.

Generations had lived in peace and been content with their modest surroundings, living with what the land could provide them and their faith in the Godking as their lone companion.

Was it arrogance on his side to want something more? To make the kingdom be truly worthy when the Godking returned to the mortal realm?

His gaze drifted back to the bay, seeing over to the other side, where several Mesters were putting down stones to mark out the new coastline. Already he was imagining stone buildings towering toward the sky, where trees now stood.

“No longer will we be relegated to small timber villages, no more relegated to small huts. Let this become my legacy, if nothing else. A city of stone and brick, a city worthy to stand as the capital of Istrania, worthy of being the Godking’s Port. Kingsport shall stand as a monument to the light and glory of the Godking.”

Valdemar bowed his head and silently prayed to the Blessed Ones and the Godking, to make his vision succeed, that Kingsport would succeed.
