My daughter.

When your sister Snt ascends the throne, you will not be left behind. When you frolic in the fields of flowers among the bees, laugh amidst the butterflies, or fall asleep on the grass, I see your closeness to nature.

I remember how, when you were four, you wept for six days after the rabbit living in our garden breathed its last. When I asked why it had lasted so long, you explained quite calmly that each of the Six had to hear your weeping so that your rabbit could be welcomed into Netjeru-Kedet, the City of the Gods.

You are not like the others. I see in you a goodness of soul, an intelligence, and a sensitivity that will make you the finest of Counselors. Ta-Hapi will be proud of you, but never as proud as the father who loves you.

Semet tucked the papyrus into its scroll once again and placed it inside a small, ornate chest, locking it with a key.

"I shall prove worthy, Father."

The Queen approached the window and set the chest down beside a sealed, gold-plated terracotta jar, which she then picked up. Its inscriptions bore the word "Amos," along with a scene depicting two adults and six children.

"Look out the palace window with me. Do you see that long blue ribbon flowing into the ocean? That is Mistra-Itrw. The sweet waters of this river promise us new trade opportunities. Our bees are blessed by Ta-Hapi. I explained this to you many years ago, and now, at last, my plans are becoming reality."

The young woman remained silent for several minutes, savoring the lapping of the water, the buzzing of the bees, and the wind sweeping through the fields of sugarcane.

"It’s magnificent… I so wish you could see them. And you too…" whispers Semet, caressing the five other urns beside her with her fingertips. "Have no fear. I shall carry our blood to the ends of Aquila for the glory of Kedet and in your honor."
