The people of ‘instruction’.
Description
The Ihg Euchinig (Euchinig people) are a novel band of interlopers that gain more corporeal bodies over time. They do not get weaker in sunlight, but feel fear and strong emotions, choosing to wear distinct heavy and fully covering clothing making their current bodies unknowable. Rumours about them have increasingly been passed around for the last 10 or so years. Far from roads hidden away the capital of Euchinig is called Zaluhlin, with a temple for Zalulhin rituals. Information about the Euchinig is little and their record vague. This is because they actively retreat from any contact with other people. Without a basis to draw upon, outsiders often come up with an alienating and folkloric picture to them.
There are many theories around the creation of Euchinig in the outside world. A common one is that members of other races are kidnapped and transformed through magic, another is that they are just a cult and not their own race, others more superstitious have linked the religious desecration as a sign they are demons gathering to attack civilisation, etc.
Rumors about them have been growing because, for some unknown reason, sightings have shifted from figures standing on the canopies of distant forests to figures seen around various religious roadside altars, shrines, sacred groves, etc., all of which have been found desecrated. So despite a possible speculatory aversion to magic, Ihg Euchnig themselves are clearly capable of it/something similar. The Euchnig are rather resistant to their environment due to the fact that their bodies take a very long time to materialise, meaning they cannot interact with it as much during the first few years of their existence. As time goes on they will lose this advantage. The Euchinig are generally unnaturally great at literacy and ritual rites, and among the Ihg Euchinig their hunters are particularly impressive, aided in mobility slightly by their ability to float slightly above ground.
For the world of Aquila, not much, if anything at all is known about these people. As such, the following information is only known for those actually familiar with the race.
Culture
The Ihg Euchinig (literally Euchinig people) inhabit the most undisturbed parts of the natural world outside of any government: Tundras, Jungles, undisturbed valleys in mountainous forests, etc, in very simple structures that can be taken down and moved very quickly, which happens very often. Most populations do not maintain steady contact with each other and many die out quickly with horrible standards of life. Very recently, this has been changing because Euchinig numbers have consolidated in a remote dark oak forest, where for one of the first times permanent structures are being built. It is called Zaluhlin.
The Ihg Euchinig have terrible long term memory, but exceptional short term memory. From this their form of writing is very important in their culture, and the earliest known written record claims the usage of it was an "essential instruction and gift".
The Zalulhin faith is integrated in their culture and forms the center of the Euchinig society. The high priests used to be spread out, but now many live in Zaluhlin. The commoners don't exactly know what goes on inside the temple themselves, but the high priests believe that through ritual they receive 'instruction'. This concept of instruction is literally called "Euchinig", making the "Euchinig people" be called "The people of instruction". The high priests believe something like this:
Long before the current populations of Ihg Euchinig started arriving, the first Ihguj Euchinig (Ihguj being the singular of Ihg/People) was brought into the world by the source of their instruction ( an unknown deity ) to bring about its will. Once he completed this unknown task, the Ihguj died. The creation of the Ihg Euchinig is because of this task, and when they were created, some claimed to have been brought into the world with "instructions" about language, but no information about their source, or anyone before them. These individuals became the high priests, and seek to uncover the rest of the task left for them to complete.
Most of the time individuals are very quiet, loyal, and hardworking people, however they hold very loud parties/ceremonies and keep high spirits. Interestingly, as part of this sometimes bands are formed to go out and desecrate the holy sites of the outside world. This is a tradition ordered by the high priests.
Lifespan
The Euchinig live for about 40 years.
Abilities
Physical prowess
Given the fact that the Euchinig people do not immediately posses the ability to interact with the world, they have the advantage of not being affected by the climate, or other worldly changes. They’re quite fast and agile because of this, and are excellent hunters.
Mental prowess
A Euchinig’s cognition is more sensitive to emotions, especially feelings of fear, but generally they are not much different from a human.
Magical prowess
As a type of spirit adjacent entity, Euchinigs excel in all kinds of magic, especially religious ritual rites.
