History

Childhood

In an underground camp on the deepslate level, a tiny dragonid is born, cradled by the warmth of the magma. It is completely albino, its scales not yet fully formed, its beak small and gentle. Its name is unknown. It grows up surrounded by the love of its underground tribe; at the age of 10, it takes up the spear and goes hunting for local cave wildlife alongside its father, yet it has never brought home a squid, nor even a scrap of rotten meat.

Combat has never been his specialty; rather, as a child, his interest seems to have been directed towards the fairy tales he was told, all those stories of mythology: the tale of Driisar’s creation, of other kobold populations and of the many other races that swarm what is known as ‘the outside world’. However, one in particular always caught his attention: the tale of a dragon called Jarocin, the one who shaped the world. It was this idea that appealed to the little albino kobold: to shape the world. He saw the caves change shape every day, adapting to the needs of his clan.

In all of this, he felt Jarocin’s work resonating, as if he were an extension of it.

He wanted the same.

Early Life

From the age of 11 until he was 18, he continued to study the mythology of Driisar and, in fact, managed to organise research teams to explore the caves in search of sacred artefacts relating to Jarocin that he could study, however… he never found anything.

During his final expedition, he thought he had found a strange mineral, the likes of which he had never seen before; yet, just before he was able to get his hands on it, the quarry they were exploring was struck by an earthquake that caused the entire ceiling of the gorge to collapse. The group of explorers was immediately halved in number, and they remained trapped beneath the rubble.

Months had to pass before they were freed, months of gruelling struggle for survival, during which the albino could do nothing but cling to his knowledge and faith, searching for a ‘why’ and a ‘how’. One day, the kobold was at the end of his tether; he could not even move, so he sat down in front of a pool of lava to gaze at it, preparing to breathe his last.

As he looked at the shapes of the lava and the smoke rising from it, he could make out figures: flying dragons, new shapes, the silhouettes of people he knew, and glimpses of places he had visited. The realisation dawned on him: all those expeditions were… pointless.

For Jarocin’s work lay solely and exclusively in nature, and there was no need to look anywhere else but at what he had always had.

This filled the kobold with a strange vigour, which drove him on until one day a strange group of red-coloured kobolds found the albino lying unconscious beside the pool of lava, but still alive. They brought him back to the surface; his scales had suffered irreparable damage – his albinism was almost unrecognisable, no longer visible; it was as if they had been boiled. They were no longer tough, but soft and fragile.

From there, the Kobold’s slow recovery began; not only was he far from home, residing in what is currently called Grusaak, but he also learnt of the complete collapse of the cave where his tribe had lived. He spent the last few years, until he was 21, reconnecting with Jarocin, experimenting with new rituals and expanding his knowledge of nature.

He started with a new identity, trying to find himself again: he is Sporak.

Personality & Appearance

Personality & Traits

Sporak is a curious kobold, and this is reflected in his personality, which makes him very open to getting to know people; however, from the teachings of his clan, he has learnt to be extremely cautious around people.

Appearance & Attire

Sporak looks like a kobold with a long tail; his scales are an unnatural red and do not reflect any light, due to the irreversible damage he sustained during a tragic event in his life.

To protect his skin and reconnect more closely with the natural character of Jarocin, Sporak is perpetually covered in this extremely thick resin, which gives him a bronze-coloured appearance and has a fresh, woody scent. Furthermore, given that his scales are less rigid and more flexible, he has inserted bunches of leaves at various heights along his body, between the gaps in his scales, making him look almost as though he were a forest creature.
