History

Politics

National Government

El-Kanan is lead by a president (Emir) who is selected by the previous Emir. Emirs are confirmed by a vote of confidence cast by each member city's leader (Sheikh). If this vote fails, the departing Emir must make an alternate selection. The second selection cannot be overridden.

Regional Government

Each member city has a Shiekh. Sheikhs represent their city when in counsel with El-Kanan's Emir. Member cities of El-Kanan are free to determine how their Sheikh is selected.

Culture

Language

El-Kanan has no official language. Some cities contain dialects specific to the tribe that originally settled there.

Religion

El-Kanan has no official religion due to the territory's formation being based on the cooperation of individual tribes. Many different religions are practiced in El-Kanan, so religious buildings in the capital function as general religious spaces.
