The Joint Northern Railway, also informal known as the Great Northern Railway and JNR, is a joint railway established between several nations and organizations across the North. Founded under the Charter for a Joint Northern Railway, it was created to improve transportation, trade, and cooperation between the north.

The railway operates as a joint undertaking, with ownership shared among its signatories. Unlike a railway controlled by a single actor, the JNR is governed by a council in which each member holds one vote.

A central principle of the railway is the preservation of national sovereignty. While members cooperate on railway construction, technical standards, and operations, each retains the right to determine what infrastructure may be built within its own territory.

  • Regulating cooperation with foreign railway .
  • Electing the railway's Director.
  • Resolving disputes between members.
  • Approving major changes to the Charter and decisions concerning the railway's dissolution.

Ordinary operational decisions require a simple majority. Major decisions, including amendments to the Charter, dissolution, and the establishment of routes outside the North, require a two-thirds majority.

Director

The Director is elected by the council and is responsible for the railway's daily operations and long-term planning. The position coordinates the implementation of council decisions.

Chief Engineer

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the technical operation of the railway, including infrastructure maintenance, and the technical activities of the Northern Railway Workshop.
