''Another extract from Semet’s diary.''
Dear Father,
It has been a long time since I last wrote to you. I want to reassure you that my reign is proceeding well.
And yet… I feel terribly alone.
It is difficult to bear the absence of your shoulder, or the shoulders of my mother and sisters, to lean on. Since I was chosen by The Six, all of Kedet has embraced me as their rightful Queen. They adore me. But, in truth, is there anyone truly understanding me? Even though my story is now more or less public knowledge, it only leaves me feeling all the more isolated. Even Percival, with whom I have forged strong bonds, does not, in the end, seem to care much for me. He is well aware of the trauma I suffered from the use of magic, and yet I know that, deep within his laboratory, he has constructed one of those accursed portals. The scent of the arcane clings to him, and I find it nearly impossible to ignore, especially when we are standing close to one another.
Then there are the other leaders and influential figures. Some, like Osiris, look at me just as the citizens of Kedet do. Others, by contrast, seem almost to hold me in contempt, even as I warn them of an imminent danger. As for the city’s inhabitants, they take me at my word, yet they do not seem to grasp the true depth of what I am saying. They simply follow my instructions without a shred of critical thought solely because I am blessed by The Six.
Meanwhile - as I am kneeling before this wretched archway that causes me such deep concern and suffering right now, the magic continues to swell beneath the earth. I am terrified, and there is no one who will truly listen or understand…
If only Misra were here. She would surely know how to put my mind at ease. I miss her presence too much… I must summon the Apep-Duat once more. In any case, destroying these portals does not seem to be the solution. They keep growing back…
Yes, that is it. Misra likely holds the solution I am seeking.

Another extract from Semet’s diary.
