History
Childhood
He has been playing the fool for as long as anyone, including himself, can remember. Something happened early in his life, something significant enough to reshape how he saw himself permanently, that convinced him he was only ever the fool underneath, nothing more. What that something was, he has never told anyone, and likely never will.
At some point in his childhood, he was taken as a slave. Where he came from, non-human races, elves included, were widely treated as a commodity, prized and enslaved for their beauty. He never grew up within any Star Elf homeland or community as a result, and learned early to hide what he was, first with nothing more than face paint over his features.
Early life
The caravan transporting him was attacked and picked apart by a group of thieves, who took him in for one reason only: he was useful. They didn't care what he was or where he came from, only what he could do. At the time, it felt like little more than a cage with better conditions. Looking back now, they were the closest thing to family he ever had, even if it wasn't a particularly good one. Everything he knows, theft, conning, reading a room, holding himself together under pressure, and how to properly conceal what he is, he learned from them. The face paint eventually gave way to a proper mask, an upgrade once he had the means to afford one.
His last real job before all that changed was, by his own account, the kind of thing that belongs in a story. Posing as a literal jester, he set out to con a wealthy, powerful man out of valuable information, the fool playing a fool. It should have worked. It fell apart when one of his own trusted contacts sold him out to the mark for a better price than his own. What followed was a full sprint with no plan beyond getting out, and it ended with him running clean off the edge of a cliff without meaning to.
Life in Aquila
The truth of how he actually got here is a lot less impressive than the story he tells about the job itself. After escaping, he boarded a boat to put real distance between himself and the very thing he'd left behind. He fell asleep somewhere along the way and simply woke up having ended up in Aquila, with no memory of how he got there or how long he'd been asleep for.
Since arriving, he's built a life around exactly what he's always done best: reading people, taking what isn't offered, and selling what others didn't know they'd revealed. He founded the Guild not long after settling in with two others, just an ordinary trade and adventuring guild, while quietly operating his own things on the side.
Career
one of 3 founding members of the Guild
Abilities
As a Star Elf, he has access to an easy read on the stars for direction or fortune-telling purposes, a limited telekinetic "mage hand," dark vision, immunity to magically induced sleep, and the ability to conjure small illusions of the night sky.
(personaly learned magic: illusion magic to an extent)
Beyond the magic, his real skill lies in people: reading a mark, and talking his way into or out of anywhere do to his good charisma skills.
He uses his illusion magic almost exclusively for concealment, hiding the physical tells that would otherwise mark him as a Star Elf (namely his ears) rather than for any showier purpose. His star-shaped pupils and the star markings across his body are hidden through purely mundane means instead, makeup, contacts, and careful styling, the same tools any con artist keeps close at hand. The markings themselves remain real and unchanged underneath any disguise, tied to actual milestones in his life, an honest record hidden beneath a man who otherwise never stops performing.
