Kobold Deepfolk
Kobolds are said to be descendants of great and powerful draconic deities. How true that rumour is unclear. But their will and strength may prove otherwise…
Basic Description
Kobols are short humanoid reptilians. They have scaled skin, a snout filled with tiny razor sharp teeth, and a very long tail. The deepfolk subspecies of kobolds are specifically native to deep, underground caves and caverns. They typically never leave their homes during daytime, and only really venture out into the wild during night time. Through thousands of years of evolution, they have adapted to living in near complete darkness, and because of it are very sensitive to sunlight. They may place torches or contained fires in order to ‘ward off demons’, but they don’t particularly need the light in order to see. Deepfolk kobolds tend to have very pale and greyish scales, or even completely black ones. Their eye color can also vary, but typically it ranges between blood red, or a piercing bright yellow. They are usually slightly shorter than the average kobold.
They are creatures of the dark, holding a preference for slightly colder climates, or caves. They can commonly be found in enormous underground warrens, or really any corner of the world which blocks out the light. Their true origins are largely unknown, but many speculate that they evolved from mythical beasts, while some say they may have evolved similarly to most other demi human species.
Culture
TBW.
Lifespan
Kobols can live for about 120 years, but few reach that age.
Abilities
Physical prowess
Some deepfolk shaman kobolds are blessed by the magic of this world and do not suffer from sunlight sensitivity, physically. Their vision is still effected, but to a much lesser degree. Just like regular kobolds, they have excellent sight in the dark. Additionally, they have a natural affinity for cold environments. Because of their smaller figure, and inclination for dark spaces, kobolds have mastered the art of stealth and trap crafting, making them excellent hunters and spies. They’re also quite good at all things smith related such as crafting weaponry, resource gathering and mining.
Mental prowess
There are little to no differences between a kobolds cognition and that of a human.
Magical prowess
While they are capable of magic, kobolds have no natural affinity for magical arts.
