Kheta-Kedet (Etymology: Kheta - "Goddess" ; Kedet - "Construction Site", "The City of the Goddess") is a monarchy found on (continent) and neighboring (nations). It was founded on the beginning of Era Nova.

Its current leader, Semet, or Kheta-Semet (Semet the Goddess) was chosen by The Six to govern the city when it was preyed on by deceiving wizards, saving the citizens from a terrible fate.

Historical Figures

Semet

First Queen of Era Nova who put an end to the ruling of the deceiving wizards. She is also the one who put in place the new calendar, thus her rule starts in year 1.

Main Principles

Kheta-Kedet follows principles determined by which of the Six Gods are favoured.

Under Semet's reign, the chosen gods are Ib-Deben (The Mother), Ta-Hapi (The Priestess) and Ib-Nbw (The Merchant), marking priority on science, religion and trade.

Cultural & Political Events

The Forfeiture

Event during which the city's mages were executed after the discovery of their treason. The Prince, who was supposed to ascend the throne and be the first King of Kedet, was spared by Semet and banished. Right after, Kheta-Semet created a new calendar, setting the date to year 1.

The Queen's Daybreak

Months-long travel during which the Queen-to-be discovers the lands of Aquila. She is deemed legitimate only if she returns safely to Kedet. This ensures the Six are truly on her side. To this day, no Queen failed her Daybreak.

Political Functioning

Kheta-Kedet is an absolute monarchy. Nevertheless, the Queen has six Advisors, each responsible for the domains of one of the Six Gods.

The Advisors hold no power in their own right, as final decisions rest with the Queen. In practice, of course, Her Majesty delegates numerous tasks to them, thereby granting them - de facto - a certain form of power, or rather, political responsibility.

Since the Advisors can be dismissed at any time, it is in their best interest to carry out their duties as precisely and as efficiently as possible.

The Advisors are naturally designated as High Priestesses of their respective gods. Of course, only women can become Advisors, except for Thoth and Âh.

Current Advisors / Associated domains:

  • Thoth - General Neferneith (war, defence, law)
  • Ib-Deben - Administrator Nebty (demography, research)
  • Âh - Architect Soterhet (construction, architecture)
  • Ta-Hapi - Counselor Sitem (religion, welfare)
  • Ib-Nbw - Emissary Anathowy (diplomacy, trade, culture)
  • Ssta - Kawerit the Witch (executions, magic inquisition)

Notable Buildings

The huge city of Kedet tends to teem with small houses forming narrow streets that wind through every corner of the northern Hekamwt Desert. However, successive reigns have seen various projects - particularly architectural ones - come to fruition, giving rise to a few notable buildings:

  • Semet Khenu, Semet's Palace, built by her slaves, but designed by Osiris of Serrano after a trade agreement,
  • Ib-Nbw Hut-Netcher, the temple dedicated to the Goddess of Trade,
  • Ib-Nbw Tekhen, an obelisk found in the Golden Quarter,
  • Ssta-Mastaba, the forbidden pyramid,
  • The Gaast-Pr, the ghast house, also known as the Ghast Station,
  • Khenu Heqet-Pr, the inn near Semet Khenu,
  • Thoth-Hfd, the plaza located north of Kedet where the Vanguards live - built by Sekhem's slaves.
