Shulk
Mythical creatures born from the magic of the endless Void. They often exist together in strong, tight nit communities which they rarely stray away from.
Basic Description
Shulks originate from the End realm, which they refer to as Elysium, or alternatively as the Elysian Realm. As a species, they place great importance on keeping their community together, and do not take kindly to strangers or any creatures they view as outsiders. Shulks have a difficult time leaving their communities, or allowing new people to enter theirs due to the stigma that has been built up from their early ages. In general, they place a lot of focus on historical research, academical development and general preservation of knowledge. They are led by their religious beliefs, and in the name of their gods they've constructed countless cities and libraries which help sustain large community hives.
Culture
Shulks tend to be very conservative in their beliefs. They believe that creatures of Elysium are far superior than other life forms due to being closer in origin to their gods, and having a much longer life span than most other mortal life forms. Shulks tend to view outsider species with heavy skepticism and distaste. They do not enjoy the presence of those who are different from them, whether that is by virtue of someone having been born a different race, or their religious beliefs. Despite living in closed off and tight nit communities, shulks tend to fake their kindness around their peers. They are often very competitive with each other, and tend to put others down in order to climb the social ladder. Because of their judgmental and competitive nature, shulks struggle with forming genuine long lasting relationships with their peers.
Biology
Shulkers have the ability to reproduce regardless of their sex or on entirely on their own, yet despite that & their struggle to form proper and intimate relationships, many shulk couples mate for life. Due to their innate cold & apathetic outlook, they tend to be rather cold and unfeeling towards their young. Shulkers are not incapable of love, but they find it significantly harder to acknowledge their feelings for another person as their social culture places a lot of pressure for one to succeed on their own, and take pride in the fact they stand at the top alone. Young shulks have a significantly slower physical development as compared to humans, but their general consciousness is able to develop around at the same rate as a humans. They typically reach adulthood when they come 20 years of age.
Lifespan
Their average life span is between 300-400 years, and they reach proper adulthood when they are about 20 years of age. Their general physical development is a little slower and because of this, their children tend to be much more fragile than most other species. Around ages of 12-15 they begin to develop stronger and renewed bone structure, which then properly solidifies once they reach adulthood, making their bodies able to withstand more trauma than most other species.
