The Words of Driisar
Overview
The Words of Driisar is religion that follows a white dragon (also called "the mother" or Driisar) believed to have shaped the world alongside a handful of other Dragons before vanishing without explanation, taking with her the knowledge of why every race and soul was created. Her followers live by four verses she left behind, all urging them to seek and speak their purpose aloud, since without the Dragons a soul no longer returns to her after death but instead slowly fades into nothing. this is the official and main religion of the covenant of Grusaak, followers of Driisar do not show there faith through rituals but more through actions showcasing there purpose.
History
The Doctrine of Purpose
Those who believe in the words believe that Driisar, or The Mother, is one of the Dragons from eons ago that created the world. We believe there were 4 seasons of creation, “The Spring of Creation”, which was the creation of the universe then “The Summer of Creation”, which was the creation of the world, followed by “The Autumn of Creation”, which was the creation of life, and finally “The Winter of Creation”, which was the disappearance and loss of Driisar and the rest of the Dragons with no explanation ever left apart from stories spread down through generations.
Followers believe that all races were created by Driisar as one piece of a bigger whole, but during the Winter of Creation, the knowledge of their purpose when Driisar and the Dragons vanished at the end of the Autumn of Creation, they did not simply leave they took the knowledge of why we were made with them. Every race, every bloodline, every soul was shaped for a reason. That reason was not destroyed. It was scattered and lost. Many believe that to find the purpose of their creation would bring back the Dragons, and thus the Summer of Creation, and that they would be greatly rewarded. All followers and subranches of the religion have there own ways to try and appease Driisar and bring about her return whether it being by fighting, sacrificial offerings or peace there are many sub groups who believe in different ways to bring about her return one of the main reasons for pursuing this is also because many believers also believe that we had angered or disappointed them and that is why they left so we should act in a way that they should want which is where the words of Driisar come from, after her departure it is believed that she left behind 4 verses which also equivalent to the 4 seasons of creation.
The Verses
“The Verse of Spring”: "Ask the Mother's question of yourself before another asks it of you."
“The Verse of Summer”:"Purpose unspoken is purpose wasted speak it, and let the Mother witness."
“The Verse of Autumn”: "We were shaped last because we were meant to finish something."
“The Verse of Winter” "You were not made whole alone seek the fragment you were not given."
These verses are what all followers stand by there is some contention between believers of what some of them actually mean but they all follow these verses in some way.
Cosmology
From every old story it is described there was more then just Driisar, some forgotten some still remembered but never being as important as driisar but there being two types of dragons, lesser dragon and greater dragons the greater dragons has immense impact on the world and was usually had there own major contributions while the lesser ones had very little impact though all dragons share the same disappearance all disappeared at the same time below is the description of all the greater dragons.
One of them being Jarocin The Shaper of Bone and Root Squat and heavy bodied, built low to the ground with thick gnarled scales coloured the same colours you would see on bark and riverbanks a dirty brown in every description with Kaelurun having shaped alot of the known world.
Another dragon being Ithenne, The Namer of Waters Long she was eel like more serpent than traditional dragon scaled in shifting blues and greys that were said to change with the water she moved through she had shaped how the waves moved where the currents went and what secrets the water holds.
Sennow, The Binder of Breath, was pale and smaller then alot of the other dragons gave breath and thought to the mortal races during the Autumn of Creation working alone and without any ceremony no myth claims to know why only that it was done last and done carefully.
Amrothis, The Kindler was remembered as burning faintly along the edges even at rest and had copper coloured scales and was considered the eldest of the greater Dragons besides Driisar in most versions. Amrothis had shaped flames and filled the center of the earth with magma, they say that volcanic eruptions are somehow connected to him like its his own way of punishing us for not pleasing him.
Vosk, The Voice Beneath, was rarely described at all in the old stories what survives paints him as dark almost black. stone grey ,small eyed and blind or near enough, dwelling in caves less known but is often one of the main dragons spoken about by kobold deepfolk member so of the religion who calls themselves as being created him his vision.
Driisar was described across every surviving fragment of the old stories as white but not like bone or snow but something closer to a pearl, or light, a white that seemed to hold a faint shimmer of every other color without ever settling into one. her scales are said to have been small and tightly overlapping near her face and throat, growing larger and more square like down her spine, catching light like the underside of a wave. Driisar is remembered as unsettlingly gentle in shape. Her head is narrow and small in proportion the rest of her body more bird than reptile with a delicate curve to the brow that storytellers describe as giving her a permanently soft and almost sorrowful expression. Her eyes are the one place color is allowed to break through the white a bright blue, almost like diamonds. her wings are just continuations of her scaled body smooth and armoured like the rest of her it catches the same shimmering but not quite as white as her scales.the motion in which they move is is in a slow wide unhurried beats more like something breathing than something flying. She's never described as radiant or blinding the way a lesser storyteller might reach for with a "divine white dragon." Instead the emphasis is always on softness an approachable, almost maternal presence, which is why "The Mother" became her more common name among followers even more than "Driisar" itself in casual worship.
