Queen Semet Returns!

The city is rejoicing! Today, the monarch returned, welcomed by the jubilant citizens, whom she made sure to greet. Kheta-Semet also wished to deliver a speech, which we have, of course, transcribed for you!

“Dear people of Kedet, you cannot imagine how my heart swelled with emotion at the sight of my beloved city - and, above all, of the people who inhabit it. My journey was enlightening and fascinating, but the time has come for me to permanently assume my role as Queen of this city. First, I wish to thank my Advisors, who successfully carried out the tasks I entrusted to them while maintaining peace and prosperity. I also thank the merchants, farmers, artisans, engineers, architects, and slaves, all of you who contributed to Kedet’s greatness during my absence.

If only you knew how different other continents are from ours. Gone are the vast stretches of sand and terracotta, the plains and jungles... Everything is so different! I have ensured that all this knowledge might one day reach our great Medjat.

But above all... I discovered something far more serious. Since my ascension, I had harbored a fear - one that has proven well-founded. Everywhere, whether on Hekamwt or other continents, sinister obsidian arches stand tall, rising from blood-red earth where a terrifying inferno flows. These arches... These arches are not mere structures. They are a gateway. A potential entry point from which horrible, malevolent magical creatures could emerge at any moment. I will not allow such a threat to loom over Kedet, nor over this world. Magic must be erased from the face of Aquila, and that begins with the destruction of these portals.

Thus, here and now, I announce the formation of the Apep-Duat, an order dedicated to destroying every single one of these portals. I have made sure to mark as many of their locations as possible on a map. Let every volunteer come forward. We shall be the protectors of the world.”

Then, the Queen mentioned the need to confer with the Vanguards as well as a certain tribe of Hekamwt, and departed to rest in her dwelling, the Temple of Ta-Hapi.
