As the waves surged and crashed above me, my consciousness waned. In an instant, I was elsewhere. I was back in my tower, staring at the door to Risa's room. I hadn't even dared to face the door in ages, and I didn't want to do it again. I turned away and as I did, I smelled something coming from the kitchen. The smell of food. I wandered up the stairs, wondering if I had simply left the smoker on.

When I got to the bottom, someone was waiting for me.

"Hey, Seras!"

Risa was in front of me again, as if nothing had ever happened. I stumbled into her arms, hugging her as tightly as possible and tearing up. She laughed, her voice sounding almost nostalgic.

It was almost like if Risa was never the burnt corpse that I had to drag out of her room and bury, the same corpse that I hoped would somehow recover, despite how little had survived. Here she was, even though I knew it wasn't really her, I didn't care. She felt real enough, and she was the person that I had left, the only person I knew.

She was the only person that I knew...except for Queen Semet.

Semet...

As soon as I remembered her name, my mind snapped back to the situation. I was underwater, drowning.

"You should go, Seras. You know where to find me."

Before I could beg, scream for her to stay, my eyes were opening.
