The Kuriaes column arrived at the area around the Gateway and met up with the Koperdamers under Henry Westcroft.
Harakhas was still curious about his shiny arm, which he already noticed during their meeting in Hais!am. However, he did not ask about it as it is considered disrespectful in Kuri//aes culture to ask a person directly about missing limbs.

Simata Vetatasi remained with his men around the Gateway for backup.
The rest under the command of Harakhas, Tjongo and Henry were led towards the first village of the Somotho in the Gaunais.
The Kuriaes still knew the area very well.
The moment the Kuriaes arrived at the village, carnage broke out.
Arrows flew, fire consumed fields and houses, animals and people were slain, explosions echoed through the lands like thunder.
The Somotho brought their men to fight. But they did not fight well, they have been weakened before, and were decisively defeated. Those who were not killed or captured fled.
After the fight had ended and the majority of fires fizzled away, a fog covered the now destroyed village.
A flag now stood triumphantly in its center. It is the flag of the Kuriaes, representing its three clans, flown for the first time.
They had finally returned with new strength to take revenge.
They did not give a name to the Somotho village they destroyed until after the battle.
Harakhas decided to name it Asatoa (The Beginning of the End).
