History

In Year -1, the Great Calaverian Unification Party (GCUP) was founded by Anthony Calabreso, Joseph Werrin, and Leonardo Sartiano after annexing the Libertarian Party of Viscarroso (LPV). The GCUP quickly gained control of the Federal Republic of Viscarroso (FRV), with Anthony Calabreso becoming Prime Minister and Joseph Werrin becoming Chancellor. In May, the FRV united with the Kingdom of Islanio to form the Federation of Southern Calaverian States (FSCS). However, negotiations with the Calaverian Commune collapsed after a grenade attack killed Chancellor Werrin and the Commune's Chairman, allowing radical socialists to seize control of the Commune.

Under Chancellor Anthony Calabreso, the FSCS began covert military operations against the Commune, including the Stonehaven munitions raid, an external trade embargo, and support for the Calaverian Resistance Front (CRF). By October, shortages and civilian resistance had severely weakened the Commune's military. FSCS forces and CRF fighters then advanced on the capital, where moderate Commune officers overthrew the radical leadership and surrendered. The Grand Calaverian Unification Treaty dissolved the Commune and integrated its territories into the Federation, which was renamed the Federation of Calaverian States (FCS). In December, wealthy landowner Arlo Vale agreed to the FCS annexation of his private islands and developing city.
