Hypnotic-Glow
Attached to Queen Semet's letter was a map straight to Kheta-Kedet, which was to the north of my tower. I packed as well as I could, bringing as many supplies as possible. I didn't know how long I would stay, or even how long it would take for me to get there.
I journeyed to the shore, noticing a crude drawing of a boat in the map. Sure enough, I found an old rowboat sitting in the sand. I shoved it into the water and got in, taking note of the general direction that I would need to go in. From there, I would just need to go through "Serrano" and then I was practically in Kheta-Kedet.
I could already see where I needed to go after a few minutes, but I didn't want to leave the ocean yet. It was peaceful, even somewhat nostalgic, although I had never been here in this life. Something about it drew me in further and further, and I began to pay less attention to my surroundings and how they warped around me. In a trance like state, I dived in, ignoring that the water had turned inky black.
Something deep in my mind told me to go deeper, that I would be rewarded if I did. I only paused when it began to seem too familiar. I paused and straightened myself, staring below me as something white began to form, ever so slowly, at the bottom. It didn't look like sand, sand didn't have eyes. The scene began to look a lot like when I dreamed about Risa and an owl. I kicked back to the surface, trying to figure out which way was up. A hand reached out from the darkness, grabbing me by my neck and squeezing. A second hand emerged, both were a disgusting, bulging mess of blue flesh draped with seagrass. I kicked the zombie off, floating backwards. If the owl's face was below me, then I must be upright. I swam away, trying to reach the surface. Another zombie emerged from the darkness, then another, then another. I counted five, and then a sixth emerged. It held a three pronged weapon in it's right hand, pulling it behind it's head and aiming for mine.
In an instant, the weapon flew forward with the zombie attached, rotating through the water and slamming into my side. It was a trident. I shoved it away from me, but the others began to claw at my legs and pull me downwards. I backed away again, desperate to make space between me and them. The trident holder drifted to the back of the horde, raising his hand over his head. I held my hand out in front of me and braced for impact, hoping that by some miracle he missed. After a few moments, nothing happened. I opened my eyes slowly, noticing light emitted from my chest as I did. My entire body glowed, bathing the scene in bright white light. I hadn't even noticed that the zombies in front of me were bubbling and writhing in pain. It didn't take long for what remained of them to sink, and the trident silently drifted up to the surface on its own.
