Correction Regarding the Trans-Oceanic Rail Initiative
Correction Regarding the Trans-Oceanic Rail Initiative
By Order of the Directorate
The Directorate of the Technate of Koperdam has today announced the immediate dismissal of the author responsible for the recent publication concerning the Trans-Oceanic Rail Initiative.
The article was intended to communicate the Technate's plans for expanding its rail network and establishing a northern connection through The Gateway. However, it contained serious and unacceptable misinterpretations of Koperdam's position and intentions.
In particular, the language describing the initiative as a project of "industrial dominion" and suggesting that Koperdam intends to project its power across Hekamat does not accurately represent the policy or intentions of the Directorate.
The Technate has heard the concerns raised by Serrano, Coronado, and Istrania. The Directorate recognises that such statements, published under the authority of the Koperdam Bulletin, could reasonably be interpreted as a declaration of territorial expansion and an attempt to undermine the sovereignty of nations across Hekamat.
That was not the intention of the initiative.
Koperdam's objective is the construction of a reliable railway and the establishment of commercial connections between continents. Infrastructure is not sovereignty, and trade is not annexation.
The Technate recognises the sovereignty of the nations through which this railway may pass and has no intention of demanding their submission or replacing their governments with Koperdamian authority.
The establishment of The Gateway is intended to serve as a logistical and commercial connection, not as a declaration of ownership over the territories beyond it. Where our proposed railway enters the territory or sphere of another nation ( which will not happen unless agreed upon ), Koperdam is prepared to negotiate appropriate agreements concerning rights of way, customs, stations, employment, and trade.
The individual responsible for the original publication has been relieved of their position with immediate effect following an internal review. The Directorate considers the publication to have been an unintentional but gross misrepresentation of official policy and has taken appropriate measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring again.
The Directorate therefore invites the governments and communities concerned to meet with Koperdam and discuss the future of the Trans-Oceanic Rail Initiative directly.
We believe that a railway should connect nations rather than dictate to them.
The Gateway is Koperdam's gateway to the wider world. It is not intended to become Hekamat's gateway to Koperdamian rule.
The Directorate regrets the confusion caused by the previous publication and considers this matter formally corrected. Thank you.
