Why do we exist the way we do?

We start our day by waking up in a cold room, only sometimes in bed.

Then we go to the farms to try and get any type of food, emphasis on the trying. Even though new farms were built, it still isn't enough to survive for some families.

Next we do work, from stone laying to mining, some also go fishing. Either at the river on the border with Kedet or at the plank of wood we call our port.

Only to go back home hungry, exhausted and dirty trying to find some peace and quiet before eating and then sleeping.

I heard of other civilizations using melted sand as windows, which while weird sounds better than ours which are just holes. Rabbits jump in while you're away to eat your food and defecate in your bed, perhaps still there when you are back home. It only gets worse when you try to remove them, which is when you realise that the rabbits in Baylara are quite aggressive.

All of this day in and day out with no sight of it getting better. Why does it have to be this way?

The High Chief as we call him isn't much better as his father. Doing the bare minimum and then being called a "great leader"?

Excuse my wording but that is utter camelshit.

Providing housing and food to the people you rule is not an achievement, it's the bare minimum.

We shouldn't celebrate him for this, we should have scoffed and asked "What's next?".

But we didn't, we just excepted it and moved on.

If this is what our meaning of existence is, that being a monotonous cycle of starving while our overlord eats himself fat, is that why we should exist? Just for him?

Or for ourselves?
