Creatures of the night who stalk their prey until they are exhausted.

Basic Description

Ghouls are a specific variant of Undead creatures. Unlike zombies, ghouls can be both created and be born. Such cases are rare and quite unlikely, but not entirely impossible. For the most part, the creation of ghouls functions similarly to zombies. They can be made with the use of a recently diseased body and typically form when evil or dark magic is used on said body. They cannot, however, be born via diseases. Ghouls specifically feed off of living flesh, and need it in order to sustain themselves.

Culture

Ghouls on their own don't possess a specific culture. It's very likely that whatever they were previously in life, stuck with them after death, which would mean their prior background and culture would still be what influences them the most.

Lifespan

Ghouls live up to about 10 years if not fed. Realistically, they can survive up to about 150 years if they consistently consume living flesh. Unlike zombies, their bodies are quite sturdy, and have a much harder time sustaining serious physical trauma and injury.

Abilities

Physical prowess

When a ghoul is created or born, their appearance has little difference between their original selves, and their newfound undead form. Overtime however, their skin begins to grey out, and their eyes loose their color entirely. Ghouls posses incredible speed and physical strength as long as they are not starved. They are also immune to natural healing magic, and instead heal by

When they are originally turned, they appear relatively living, but they cannot heal like regular humans, instead needing to stitch themselves together. Their bodies tend to fall apart from wear and tear over time, eventually degrading to a point of no return where the person they once were cannot be recognized whatsoever. Their bodies in general tend to be rather frail and easily susceptible to physical trauma as they are actively decaying every day. A big issue which tends to expedite their decay is the lack of a nervous system, which causes zombified creatures to no longer feel physical pain, making them even more prone to physical injury.

Mental prowess

Once turned, zombies retain most, if not all of their past life's memories. Though, or rare occasion, that can also be completely forgotten. Typically, their motor functions remain the same, and whatever skills they may have learned in life stay with them even after death. Overtime however, as their physical state begins to decline, their mental state does as well. Memories seem to blur, their motor functions grow worse, their emotional capacity and critical thinking lowers. Eventually, all zombies reach a state where their intelligence declines, and they become near mindless monsters.

Magical prowess

Zombies have a larger attunement with dark magic, such as necromancy or spells allowing you to commune with the dead. They are also rather resistant to similar forms of magic. Additionally, any form of healing magic has little to no effect at all on them.
